Racism in Portugal – Recommendation “Citizenship and Anti-Racist Education”
On November 6th , 2020, National Education Council approved the Recommendation to the Government on “Citizenship and Anti-Racist Education”.
Having School as a privileged space for the exercise of citizenship, focused on diversity, differences and universality, they choose it as the place where the greatest and most relevant work to combat racism can and must be done. Education as a defense tool against violence, racism, extremism, and discrimination.
Thus, the CNE recommends the implementation of twelve educational policy measures, with the objective of promoting education for citizenship, for inclusion and combating racism in Portugal.
