Obstetric Violence – Resolution 181/2021

 

On the 28th of June 2021, the Portuguese Parliament approved Resolution 181/2021, which recommends that the Portuguese Government eliminates obstetric violence practices and conducts of a study on them.

The Portuguese Parliament recommends that the Government take measures to eliminate routine obstetric practices such as the Kristeller Maneuver and routine episiotomy from the Portuguese panorama and that an anonymous study be conducted to ascertain the extent of the problem of violence on pregnant and parturient women in Portugal.
